Who are we?

Match Design was formed in 2004 as a collaboration between Matt Smith and Charlie de Montagnac. We've known each other for five years, after a meeting sparked by a common interest in music, rather than a connection through work. Both of us are graphic designers, but we have quite different backgrounds, styles and areas of expertise.

As time went on we found ourselves sharing ideas and techniques, and it became clear that further collaboration would be a very interesting creative venture. In our work for Match Design, we combine artistry and illustration expertise with a flair for technical design, typography and photography to produce original, innovative design.

Through our contacts with specialists in related disciplines, we can offer a complete service on a wide range of projects for all sizes of clients, from start-up companies to large, established organisations.

Matt Smith

Matt has been working with type and images for 10 years now and could be said to represent the more technically-inclined half of Match Design. He's a perfectionist, with a very precise and detailed approach to what he does, whether in print, digital media, or photography.

Charlie de Montagnac

I've been working as a freelance illustrator and designer for twenty years, starting in the field of sign and display and later moving on to printed media. I've always been keen to add new strings to my bow, and so technologies like web site design were soon included in my array of services. Diverse as I am however, it is in my illustrative artwork where I achieve my greatest satisfaction and it's here where my main commitments lie.
